Looking to the Sky

by Kimberly on May 7, 2008

I always looked to the sky when I was younger. And wounder what it would be like to be up there. I didn’t get to do my “1st” flight until I was 19. That was on a commercial plane back in 1994. I was accepted in to National Civilian Community Corps. It was a volunteer program. I had to fly to S.C. That was my 1st time being in a plane. I enjoyed it so much I looked forward to every flight I ever did.

Well it wasn’t until I was 23 that I could take flying lessons. I started taking them at Tampa North Aeropark. It took me 2 years to get my private then another 9 months for my IFR rating. Then I started my commercial rating. But I haven’t finished that yet. It’s been more of an off and on thing right now. But I do plan on finishing it soon.

I’m in the best place to live. I live in a aviation community with my husband. It’s probably the best place you can be if you love planes. I have been flying for 10 years and have around 500 hrs. So I guess I can count my self lucky. I did have some help along the way.. Parents, husband and a few loans… But anything worth while probably will not be easy to do.
